Summary

This document will cover in detail the proposed options the War Council believes align with the community and what excites us about EtherOrcs future through 2023 and into 2024. We will bring these options to the All DAO meeting on Monday, 9/11/2023 and to the DAO for vote/s to decide our direction in the weeks following.

This document is intended to be a wire frame, a starting point, a draft of a direction, where the DAO can pivot and move. There are no pretty pictures, no beautiful background in a PDF, just words and ideas, to spurn your thoughts and make you ponder: “What would I want to play? What is important to me? Where do I find value?”

Background

We’ve been an official DAO for a little over 6 months now. Our goals when we started this journey was to transition all assets owned by the founding team into the community’s hands in the form of a DAO. In the coming weeks we will complete one of the final steps in this journey with the transition of smart contracts to the DAO.

The next logical question is, what’s next? What’s next for EtherOrcs? For the EtherOrcs DAO? For the EtherOrcs assets we the community still holds?

Below, you will find three options that the War Council is laying out for how we want to spend our time and effort through 2023 and into 2024.

It is important to remember:

That these options are things we want to do, and that we will solicit feedback, and approval with votes through the DAO in areas where we want to change things that impact the EtherOrcs Ecosystem.

A DAO empowers its community members to set forth, and build upon the rails of it’s ecosystem and assets, what they find inspiring, exciting, and value driven.

The Ideas presented below are ones members of the War Council are excited by and want to engage in making for the community and for themselves.

Three Options:

  1. Bring back Dungeons v1.0; Devote all energy and attention to EtherOrcs v2.0 for a Q3/4 2024 Release
    1. TLDR;
      1. Phaelon’s Infrastructure, no changes to code, nothing new to add. Bring it up, let people play it as is.
  2. Update Dungeons to v1.1 through 2023; Begin making EtherOrcs v2.0 through 2024 with a release Q4 2024
    1. TLDR;
      1. Phaelon’s infrastructure, basic changes to code
      2. ADD seasons (Four through 2024)
      3. ADD an ally mint to coincide with launching Dungeons v1.1
      4. Begin work for EtherOrcs v2.0 in earnest in Q1 2024
  3. Devote all energy to EtherOrcs v2.0
    1. TLDR;
      1. Don’t bring Dungeons v1.0 or v1.1 back to life
      2. Focus solely on EtherOrcs 2.0
      3. Build and deploy Dungeons 2.0
      4. Revamp/Refactor almost everything about EtherOrcs from emissions, to Zug, to boneshards, to abilities.
      5. Nothing is off the table to be examined, researched, and updated

Option 1 - Dungeons v1.0, and then EtherOrcs v2.0

This option would see us bring Dungeons v1.0 brought back without adding Seasons or making partial code changes for the systems to work more efficiently. Tooling would stay the same and we would not see any new dungeons, equipment, or items.
